- Cincinnati Bengals- Joe Burrow QB, LSU
2. Washington Redskins- Chase Young EDGE, OSU
This pick should be similarly as easy for the Redskins. Chase Young is like the Myles Garretts and Nick Bosas who are quick twitch athletes who will dominate at the NFL level. He is a once (or it looks like nowadays every 3 years) generational athlete at the pass rush position and it should be written in ink.
3. Detroit Lions- Jeffery Okudah CB, OSU
As they say this is where the draft officially starts. It feels like with the trade of Slay that the Lions are all but certain to draft a generational CB in Okudah. He really is up there with the Ramseys and Gilmores of the world. The question will be does Bob Quinn risk trading back with the Dolphins. There has been little knowledge as to what the Giants are planning on doing so the world expects them to pick a tackle, but if Okudah is there are they enticed? If the Lions know that the Giants are not going to take him then they should do whatever they can to trade down, if not they probably should regardless.
4. NY Giants- Mekhi Becton OT, Louisville
If the Giants value their young franchise QB they have to invest in their offensive line. Good for them there is a huge behemoth of a man from Louisville that should be able to protect Jone’s blindside well. Mekhi Becton is an anomaly, people his size should not be able to move like he does. If he gets his hands on anyone they are instantly stopped, look at the Clemson game against Clelin Ferrell last year as a prime example. The knock against him is that his feet don’t get where they are supposed to all the time but that sounds like a knit picked reason to fear his potential. I like him about as much as I have liked any OT in my lifetime.
5. Miami Dolphins- Tua Tagovailoa QB, Alabama
Full disclosure Tua is not my no.2 QB, perhaps not my No.3. I think Tua can be a great NFL QB, but I think too much has been placed on a pedestal because he went to Bama and was really good there. I would watch his tape where he is a good thrower but not a great one. However, it is hard to ignore that he is an incredibly smart passer with a strong arm. It is also impossible to ignore the fact that the Dolphins clearly want him so I can’t not mock him here.
6. LA Chargers- Jusitin Herbert QB, Oregon
Justin Herbert is my actual QB2. Why because he has all the tools to be an elite quarterback in the league, He has a rifle on his shoulder along with the fact that he is fast, like abnormally fast for his size. When I watch tape I see NFL throws everywhere with consistency and zip. I think he is special and shouldn’t be overlooked. The Chargers could spend a year stocking up the O Line and move forward with the Justin Herbert era.
7. Carolina Panthers- Derrick Brown DL, Auburn
I am not sure what the Panthers should do. Clearly they are starting a rebuild but where do you start. It is also an interesting rebuild because effectively their rebuild has a time clock because their star player is a RB. So If I’m the Panthers, for the time being I suggest they take the best player available. Derrick Brown is an elite blue chip prospect up there with the Quinten Nelsons and Ed Olivers of the world. The man is a wrecking ball, a massive wrecking ball. He regularly defeats SEC double teams which is incredibly impressive and his first step allows him to be just a bit too much for an offensive lineman to handle at his size.
8.. Arizona Cardinals- Tristan Wirfs OT, Iowa
The Cardinals have had a big offseason so far, they are getting serious about building a team around Kyler Murray. They handled their playmakers but what they really need is an improved O Line. Tristan Wirfs is my No.2 Tackle who is amazing is pass pro and a road grader in run blocking. He really is the definition of solid. If he cannot handle Tackle in the NFL, I am confident he would be an All-Pro at Guard. But I have him here as a tackle because I think he can be a special Tackle.
9. Jacksonville Jaguars- Isaiah Simmons LB, Clemson
The Jaguars are in the same boat as the Panthers. Clearly in a rebuild and are going to take the best player available. That is Isaiah Simmons. The “versatile” guy this draft, he is truly elite in coverage and has a clear nose for the ball. Combine that with his elite speed and height he should be one of the best Linebackers in the NFL. The only question is, is he not literally the exact same player as Myles Jack?
10. Cleveland Browns- Jedrick Wills Jr. OT, Alabama
Jack Conklin was a great signing but they need a Tackle on the other side. Jedrick Wills is a powerful man with fantastic footwork. He is a clear technician and would be a fit even though he never played LT at Alabama. The biggest mistake the Browns made was trading away Kevin Zeitler, turning their strength to a weakness. They need to get Baker some stability for all those weapons, whoever they deem as the best Lineman available is the guy they should take.
11. NY Jets- Jerry Jeudy WR, Alabama
The Jets should run up to the podium (if that is still what is happening) with this pick if he is there. This is the best WR I have ever scouted and I don’t understand why there isn’t more fanfare about him. Possibly due to the QBs in this draft I suppose. However, the fact the Jets let Robbie Anderson walk shows me that they will be taking a WR with this pick. Jeudy is the best route runner out of college I have seen ever. He is fluid, effortless, and quick off the twitch. His RAC ability is also special, he can take a ball to the house once he gets it. The jets would be getting a star in NY and one of the steals of the draft.
12. Las Vegas Raiders- Ceedee Lamb WR, Oklahoma
The Raiders need a playmaker. Their best receiver is Hunter Renfroe. I love me some Hunter Renfroe but there has to be a go to guy. They haven’t had one since Amari left and why not get the guy who’s in the state next to Vegas. Ceedee Lamb has special hands. Reminds me of Deandre Hopkins in that way. But what is even more curious, for a guy who didn’t test incredibly fast, he plays quick. He probably is the best with the ball in his hands naturally in this class. Getting him would give Derrick Carr his go-to target immediately.
13. San Francisco 49ers (via IND)- CJ Henderson CB, Florida
If there was one issue with the SF defense it was a shutdown corner. Richard Sherman played great but routinely got beat by talented receivers. They need a lockdown corner or at the very worst a corner opposite Sherman. I think with all the Okudah hype, people are sleeping on CJ Henderson. He is an amazing man to man. He is sticky, long and quick. I have him as a top 15 player and it shocks me the lack of people who agree. I think this could be a guy who everyone says they knew about when he lights up the league in 2 years.
14. Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Andrew Thomas OL, Georgia
Well, you got Tom Brady. That changes a lot about the trajectory of this football team. They need to be in win now mode. That means solidifying their pedestrian O Line for the soon to be 43 year old. Andrew Thomas, who I think would be better as an all world Guard, should be picked. Their line needs to be BPA, and Thomas who is a straight unit can make a real difference.
15. Denver Broncos- Kristian Fulton CB,LSU
If you do a deep dive on the Broncos roster, you will find little holes. This offseason John Elway has done a great job retooling the roster and he did it impressively affordably. However there are two areas of need. O Line, and Corner. Since I believe it would be a major reach to grab a tackle here, they should get their CB opposite AJ Bouye. Kristian Fulton has all the technique and measurables to be a solid corner with good No.1 Corner upside. He will be great as a no.2 opposite AJ Bouye.
16. Atlanta Falcons- K’Lavon Chaisson EDGE,LSU
One Dante Fowler does not make a good pass rush. K’Lavon Chaisson could be the guy in Atlanta and fill right into a perfect role in that scheme. K’Lavon is a disrupter with great bend and surprisingly amazing coverage skills. He is physically imposing and with the Atlanta defense relying so much on speed, Chaisson could be a continuous pro bowler.
17. Dallas Cowboys- Xavier McKinney S, Alabama
The Cowboys have one of the most talented, hole-less rosters in the whole league. However they need safety because relying on Jeff Heath to handle the load hasn’t worked out. Xavier McKinney can be the true center fielder that the Cowboys need. The Cowboys play too much base D where the way to beat them is down the field. Xavier Mckinney makes their elite pass rush and linebackers job all the more easier. Now that they are missing Byron Jones, that defense will have to improve.
18. Miami Dolphins (via PIT)- Henry Ruggs III WR,Alabama
If you are gonna draft Tua, you might as well give him an elite receiver. If you are gonna get him an elite target, why not give him his friend from Bama. Ruggs is special. Everyone knows about his speed, but what isn’t talked about enough is how special he is with his body kinesthetically. He moves so fluid. In the NFL today, there are few people that would freak me with the ball in his hand. That is what his speed can do. He is every bit as good as Ceedee Lamb and almost as good as Jeudy. He is special.
19. Las Vegas Raiders (via PIT)- Kenneth Murray LB, Oklahoma
The Gruden era needs building blocks. They need a defensive anchor. Kenneth Murray is the kind of guy with the nose more the ball that the Raiders simply need. John Gruden will like how tough he plays, how hard he hits, and how instinctive he is on the football field. In addition, I think if there is anyone in this class who screams RAIDER, it's Murray.
20. Jacksonville Jaguars (via LAR)- Javon Kinlaw DL, South Carolina
The Jaguars would be lucky to get him here. Javon Kinlaw is a BEAST. He is one of those mammoths you here about. He is one of the biggest guys in this class and his use of his size is what impresses me. He is a gifted athlete who bullrushes would be blockers with ease. The Jaguars are gonna be the complete best player available, and Kinlaw fits the bill.
21. Philadelphia Eagles- Justin Jefferson WR, LSU
Alshon Jeffery is reportedly out of Philadelphia. With Agholor gone, Desean Jackson is the only receiver worth anything left. Justin Jefferson allows Carson Wentz both a dynamic burner at receiver and jump ball catcher. Not only that, I think he is not ready to be a true No.1 target but in the Eagles with Desean, Ertz and Goedert, he won’t have to. The Eagles need to get help at the WR position.
22. Minnesota Vikings (via BUF)- Austin Jackson OT, USC
The Vikings need to upgrade the O Line. That’s been neglected for years now. Kirk Cousins was not the problem, his lack of time has been the issue. Austin Jackson is one of those prototypes. If you could build an OT in a lab it would be him. Ideal height, weight. Refine his technique and he could be your starting tackle for years to come.
23. New England Patriots- Jordan Love QB, Utah State
The Patriots are in the post Tom Brady era. The Patriots have normally looked for the prototypical pocket passer in their future. But this will be Josh McDaniels’s team in a few years anyway and after routinely getting clobbered by teams with athletic/dynamic QBs with strong arms, they might go with Jordan Love. I love Love, he is so special on the run. His arm talent is spectacular. When they say he looks like a dollar store Mahomes, they mean it. He can make all the throws from all the angles, he could be a steal here for the patriots.
24. New Orleans Saints- Patrick Queen LB, LSU
The Saints are a team with few holes… outside Linebacker. They were running with Manti Te’O for a while for goodness sake. The sants already have a pretty good pass rush so having an off ball linebacker that can cover like Patrick Queen could be the final missing puzzle piece the Saints need.
25. Minnesota Vikings- Trevon Diggs CB, Alabama
Vikings fans a week or two ago were crying out for this pick. Now they might not be. The brother of former viking, Stephon Diggs can still be a good piece for the Vikings moving forward. The man is lightning fast, he should have the ability to stay with any receiver. His ball skills are also not too bad, probably because he is a converted receiver. I think the Vikings need to upgrade in the secondary especially considering they lost 3 Corners this offseason.
26. Miami Dolphins (via HOU)- D’Andre Swift RB, Georgia
The Dolphins need to be looking for building blocks in this draft. One of those guys should be D’Andre Swift. I like Kallan Ballage enough but he is not the answer at RB. They need to build an offense for Tua. An OT would be somewhat of a reach, and a running game is a pretty good way to get in rhythm when he is okay. Swift is a true 3 down RB with amazing speed and twitch. When he hits a hole, he hits it quick and is likely gone for 15/20 yards. I would consider Jonathan Taylor here because he is my No.1 overall RB, but I think Swift is more equipped for what the Dolphins should be doing in a rebuild.
27. Seattle Seahawks- AJ Epenesa EDGE, Iowa
It looks more and more likely that Clowney will not be coming back to the Seahawks. That means they need to look elsewhere to get some sort of EDGE rush. I love Epenesa because not only is he good at getting to the QB, he is a true edge-setter. He is big and powerful, I think a reason people are souring on him is because he isn’t the prototype EDGE rusher, but I see him in a Cam Jordan like role where he could be the second coming of Michael Bennett for them.
28. Baltimore Ravens- Yetur Gross-Matos EDGE, PSU
The Ravens got Calais Campell which was a great get, and got Matt Judon to return, also great. Calais Campell for all those who don’t know is not an EDGE rusher. He is a true DE. That’s why he is so impressive, but the Ravens are missing that Terrell Suggs big man in the box who can get after the QB< Yetur Gross-Matos is that guy who can line up at the edge and use his patented mean streak to intimidate the hell out of opposing lines.
29. Tennessee Titans- Josh Jones OT, Houston
I don’t pretend to have the slightest idea on what is going on in Tennessee. I see this team as a team that overachieved and now lost 2 key contributors (Conklin & Casey). Now, they are supposed to run it back again? I don’t know, but if they are going to do that, they might as well replace Conklin with Jones. Jones is an excellent pass protector with a big body. He can be a real cynderblock at the end if he wants to. The one thing that may have to improve is his aggression in run blocking, but let’s not kid ourselves. He played at Houston, there probably wasn’t much running going on in the first place.
30. Green Bay Packers- Tee Higgins WR, Clemson
The Packers have been trying to get Aaron Rodgers a secondary playmaker for a while and hopefully Tee Higgins can be the guy. While there are some speed questions because Higgins didn’t show up to the combine after a bad National Championship game, I hold the last two seasons up with any receiver outside the top 3. He is a great jump ball getter, which is what the Packers need, as well as surprisingly quick off the snap. I think he could very well wind up being an average WR in the NFL, but I think he has Mike Williams, Alshon Jeffery type upside. He could be an elite second option if given the shot.
31. San Francisco 49ers- KJ Hammler WR, PSU
While I think there might be better receivers on the board, I think this is the guy that Shanahan wants. He has his playmakers with the ball in their hands (Debo & Pettis), he has his project in Hurd, I think Kyle Shannahan wants his burner. He wants his Mecole Hardman except with better hands. KJ Hammler is a burner. Turn on the tape against Michigan and he was routinely behind the defense quick. Shannahan wants to get the receiver that can truly blaze opposing defenses. With the division becoming so tight, the 49ers cannot afford to get lethargic in team building.
32. Kansas City Chiefs- Cesar Ruiz IOL, Michigan
The Super Bowl Champion Chiefs have a lot of holes on their team. Luckily they have arguably the best QB of all time on their roster. The Chiefs need to get him some more protection however. Mitch Morse is gone and they felt it last year, Eric Fisher is aging, Mitch Schwartz has a year left on his deal, and Laurent Duvernay-Tardif isn’t getting any less hurt. Cesar allows for a pro bowl caliber player wherever on the interior line. He has rare athleticism for someone at his size. I think he could be an anchor for the Chiefs if they are lucky enough to get him.
